For Haploidy there is no coordinator needed, for Molecular Markers there is no overall coordinator needed, and for RFLP Markers and Probes there is no coordinator identified. A working group, which will coordinate activities of the different research groups handling RFLP markers, was identified at the workshop on RFLPs during the Sixth International Barley Genetics Symposium.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Coordinators

The duties and responsibilities of the coordinators as reported in BGN 2:15 should be:

Maintain current information concerning their area and serve as a source of information concerning that area.
Prepare an annual report for the Barley Genetics Newsletter.
Maintain world collections of genetic and cytological seed stocks.
Perform, and encourage and support others to perform, special work necessary to the advancement of barley genetics.
If a coordinator feels that he cannot meet these and other special duties and responsibilities as they develop, he should notify the Chairman of the Committee on Genetic Marker Stocks, Nomenclature, and Symbolization of the International Barley Genetics Symposium so that another coordinator can be appointed.
