One oat line was proposed for support for registration from the Prairie Oat Breeding Consortium program at CRC, Winnipeg, Manitoba in February 2002.  There were two lines advanced to the second year of cooperative testing in the Western Cooperative Oat Test.  These lines are well-adapted for the eastern section of the Canadian Prairies because they carry crown rust and stem rust resistance to most of the prevalent pathotypes in the area.  One line may carry resistance to the NA67 pathotype.  These lines also show resistance to BYDV and smut.  These lines have acceptable milling quality, although the oil content is higher than is desired by the milling industry.

OT 2009 was supported for registration in February of 2002.  This line is a tan-hulled offspring of AC Assiniboia.  It yields well, especially in the black soil zone of western Canada.  It has good lodging resistance, and a very high thousand kernel weight, 8.7 mg higher than the closest check.  It has higher milling yield and lower oil content than AC Ronald.  The maturity is approximately three days later than CDC Dancer.  This cultivar will be handled and marketed by Cargill in Canada.  A name has not yet been assigned to this cultivar.
