Roope is a rather early, very high-yielding cultivar with rather high protein content and low hull content (Table 1). Roope is presently the highest-yielding oat cultivar in Finland. It has been very productive in different cultivation zones, different soil types and different years. The most exciting characteristic of Roope is a high protein content coupled with a high yield. Roope produces significanty higher groat yields and higher protein yields per hectare than any other oat cultivar in Finland.
