This category indicates the country of origin for each variety. State
of origin is also indicated for varieties developed in the United
States. The origins of wheat varieties commercial produced in the
United States can be traced to 23 foreign countries and 40 states
(Table 1). The origin of approximately 5% of the varieties listed is
unknown.
