from Ken Kephart, 5/94 State Performance Tests Kenneth D. Kephart State Extension Agronomist - Small Grains University of Missouri Columbia, MO 65211 kephart@teosinte.agron.missouri.edu This gopher is a subset of the GrainGenes database representing results from state wheat performance tests and related small grain variety performance trials. At the present time, this is an experimental project representing a small number of states. As the bugs are worked out and more people become aware of this resource, it is hoped that data from all wheat producing states will be included. The files available for downloading can be accessed through the individual state and year of production menus. A "Table of Contents" section will head the list of files available within a specific set of data. The "Table of Contents" will cite the source of the data, explain the format of the data file and provide a listing of the file names along with the associated table title. Files formats used are at the discretion of the data donor, however, use of ASCII text (.txt, .csv), common spreadsheet (.wks, .wk1, .xls) and common database (.dbf, .db) formats are encouraged. The contents of ASCII formated files will be displayed for direct viewing when selected. Selecting a binary formated file from the gopher menu will initiate a binary FTP transfer to your PC, Macintosh or the current directory of your Unix or mainframe host. The binary files can then be viewed with software on your computer. Please contact Ken Kephart if you have interest in supplying data for this gopher or wish to make suggestions.
