TRIAL DESCRIPTION AND SUMMARY
 
 The 1992 Uniform Regional Hard Red Spring Wheat Performance Nursery was planted at 22 
 locations and harvested at 20 locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, 
 Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Washington, Nebraska, and Canada (Table 1). The 
 nursery contained 33 entries, 5 checks (4 tall, 1 semidwarf) and 28 experimentals (15 
 talls, 13 semidwarfs). Trials were conducted as randomized complete blocks with 3 
 replicates. Yield data obtained from Crookston and St. Paul were not used in the overall 
 average nor the stability parameter analysis. No data were received from Scotts Bluff, 
 Nebraska and Havre, Montana was hailed. Data from each of 21 locations are given in 
 Tables 2-1 to 2-21.
 
 The highest average yielding location was Aberdeen, Idaho with 121 bu/A and the lowest 
 location yield was 32 bu/A at Minot, North Dakota. The average yield of all locations was 
 62 bu/A and ten experimentals were in the first LSD unit (5.7 bu/A) from the best 
 yielding entry. Generally, intermediate heading entries composed most of the top yielding 
 group in 1992 compared to only early wheats lines in 1991.
 
 Entries SD8074, ND671 and PH 986-61 were earliest to head at 23 days after June 1, while 
 Marquis and Era were latest to head at 29 days. The average yields, test weights, heading 
 dates, and plant heights are given in Table 2-22 for 1992. Eleven experimentals exceeded 
 Stoa, the highest yielding check in 1992. N87-0306 and XW398A4 were highest yielding in 
 1991-92 (Table 31). ND 675 had the highest test weight with ND673, ND671 and MN88415 at 
 61.0 lb/bu or above.
 
 Stability parameter for entries in 1992 are given in Table 3-2. PH 986-61, TR 983-231, 
 Marquis and Chris were most unstable as indicated by their high deviations from 
 regression.
 
 Greenhouse seedling and adult plant field reactions to stem and leaf rust are shown in 
 Tables 4-1 to 4-3, and Fusarium head blight from field inoculation is given in Table 4-4
