RESULTS OF SPRING WHEAT VARIETIES GROWN IN COOPERATIVE PLOT AND NURSERY EXPERIMENTS IN 
 THE SPRING WHEAT REGION IN 1990
 
 The year 1990 was the 62nd in the history of the uniform regional testing program. Data 
 summarized in this report were obtained from (1) the regional hard red spring wheat nursery, 
 and (2) the uniform regional durum. nursery.
 
 NEW VARIETIES
 
 Hard Red Spring Wheat
 
 Sharp -- (SD2980) Awned, early medium height. Resistant to stem rust and moderately 
 resistant to leaf rust. High yield and test weight. Medium protein percent. Satisfactory 
 milling and baking. Higher potential for lodging. Released by the South Dakota Agricultural 
 Experiment Station in 1990.
 
 Bergen -- (HS85-0902) Awned, midseason, semidwarf. Resistant to stem and leaf rust. High 
 yield and medium test weight. Low to medium protein percent. Satisfactory milling and 
 baking. Released by Agripro in 1990. Variety protection pending.
