TRIAL DESCRIPTION AND SUMMARY

The Uniform Regional Hard Red Spring Wheat Nursery was planted at 22 locations and harvested
at 20 in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Idaho, Nebraska, Wyoming, Wisconsin, South Dakota
and Washington. Hail destroyed the test at

Fargo. Data from 20 stations are given in Tables 1-1 to 1-20. Leaf and stem rust readings
are reported from Winnipeg in Table 1-21.

The average yield at the two irrigated stations, Aberdeen, Idaho and Bozeman, Montana, was
80.1 and 63.4 Bu/A, respectively. For the entries grown at the non-irrigated stations, the
highest average yield was 50.3 Bu/A at Madison, Wisconsin, while the lowest average was 13.2
 Bu/A at Mead, Nebraska.

Average yields and bushel weights in 1974 and for the three-year period 1972-74 for entries
in this nursery are shown in Table 2. The entries Era, ND528 and MT7156 yielded 40.0, 39.2
and 38.1 Bu/A, respectively. North Dakota selection ND519 had the best bushel weight with
 61.3 Lbs/Bu followed by 11-64-27 with 61.2 Lbs/Bu.

Miscellaneous agronomic and disease data are summarized in Table 3. The entry ND519 headed
in 64 days, while ND510 and W1262T headed in 65 days. The remainder of the entries headed at
a range between 66 and 69 days after sowing. The 23 entries have a maturity range of 93 to
 99 days.

Seeding reactions to stem rust are given in Table 4-1. Adult field reactions to leaf and
stem rust are shown in Table 4-2. Percent of plants infested by the hessian fly is given in
 Table 5.
