Test Site Information - 1998

Aberdeen, ID – Entry IDO509 in the Hard Wheat nursery was not included.  No additional information.

Bonners Ferry, ID – Winter wheat was fertilized with 60 lb N on 4/15/98.  Harmony Extra, Buctril and 
Assert herbicides were applied on 5/5/98.  Spring wheat was fertilized with 60 lb N on 5/28/98. 

Moscow, ID – The lodging scale is 0-9, with 9 = flat.  The Hard Wheat nursery experienced severe 
lodging.  Winter wheat was fertilized with 215 lb/a of 16-20-0-13 in late August and 200 lb/a of 40-0-0-6 in 
late March.  Harmony Extra, Buctril and Hoelon were applied on April 21.  The Spring Nursery suffered 
some late Hessian fly infestation, causing some lodging and stunting.  Fertilizer was applied at the rate of 
225 lb/a of 40-0-0-6 before planting.  Fargo PPI was applied April 28; Bronate and Harmony Extra were 
applied in late June.

Parma, ID – This was an irrigated trial.  The lodging scale is 0-9.  No fall fertilizer was applied, and spring 
fertilizer was applied with furrow irrigation at a rate of 90 lb N on May 18.  Bronate herbicide was applied 
April 1.
 
Preston, ID – Entry IDO509 in the Hard Wheat nursery was not included.  No additional information.

Rockland, ID – Entry IDO509 in the Hard Wheat nursery was not included.  No additional information.

Hazelton, ID – This is a new Soft White location grown in the 97-98 crop year.  No additional information.

Bozeman, MT -- Lodging score 0 to 9, with 0=best.  Smut score 0 to 5, with 0=best. The winter was 
relatively mild with little winter kill damage except for 1 Tetonia spring club bulk.  Adequate moisture 
throughout most of the growing season.  Both winter trials were sprayed with Bayleton in early July.  
Loose smut may have depressed yields in the WRSW test.  The spring field was fallow in 1997, with peas 
in 1996 and winter wheat in 1995.  Fertilizer (N100 P10 K10) was applied.  Curtail (2 1/3 pints per acre) 
was applied 6/5/98.  Rainfall for April-June was 7.04 inches.

Pullman, WA -- Grain protein in the Pullman Spring Wheat nursery is from NIR.  The soft white winter 
nursery was grown in a late (Oct. 7) planting and early (Sept. 22) planting as a foot rot 
inoculated/fungicide protected side-by-side trial.  Foot rot spores applied Nov. 13-14, 1997. 

Tulelake, CA -- The rating scale for diseases (area of flag-1 leaf affected at soft dough stage) is 1=0-3%, 
2=4-14%, 3=15-29%, 4=30-49%, 5=50-69%, 6=70-84%, 7=85-95%, 8=96-100%.  The field was fallow in 
1997 and 1996, with sugarbeets in 1995.  Fertilization included 96 lb/a N, 120 lb/a P205.
