RESULTS OF SPRING WHEAT VARIETIES GROWN IN COOPERATIVE PLOT AND NURSERY EXPERIMENTS 
 IN THE SPRING WHEAT REGION IN 1987
 
 The year 1987 was the 59th in the history of the uniform regional testing program. 
 Data summarized in this report were obtained from (1) the uniform regional hard red 
 spring nursery, and (2) the uniform regional durum nursery.

 Nordic - (HS82-175) -- Awned, midseason, semidwarf. Resistant to stem and leaf rust. 
 Very high yield and test weight.

 Telemark - (HS82-288) -- Awned, midseason, semidwarf. Resistant to stem and leaf rust. 
 Medium to high yield and medium test weight. Medium to high protein. Marketed by Agripro 
 in 1987. Seed sale regulated by U.S. Variety Protection Act.
 
 Shield - (SD8026) -- Awned, early, conventional height. Moderately susceptible to stem 
 rust and moderately resistant to leaf rust. Medium to high yield and test weight. 
 Susceptible to shattering. Released by South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station in 1987.
 
 2385 - (2385) -- Awned, early, semidwarf. Moderately susceptible to stem rust and 
 resistant to leaf rust. Released by Pioneer HiBred in 1987. Seed sale regulated by 
 U.S. Variety Protection Act.
