RESULTS OF SPRING WHEAT VARIETIES GROWN IN COOPERATIVE PLOT
 AND NURSERY EXPERIMENTS IN THE SPRING WHEAT REGION IN 1982
 
 The year 1982 was the 54th in the history of the uniform regional testing program. Data 
 summarized in this report were obtained from (1) the uniform regional hard red spring 
 nursery, and (2) the uniform regional durum nursery. The International Sawfly Yield 
 Nursery was not grown in 1982.
 
 NEW VARIETIES
 
 Hard Red Spring Wheat 
 
 Centa - (CI 17935)  Awned, early, medium height, fair resistance to lodging.  Moderately
 susceptible to leaf rust and resistant to stem rust. Medium yield and high test weight.
 Medium protein percent. Satisfactory milling and baking. Released by South Dakota
 Agricultural Experiment Station in 1982.
 
 Marshall (CI 17920) - Awned, midseason, semidwarf with good lodging resistance. Resistant 
 to leaf and stem rust. High yield and test weight. Medium to low protein percent. 
 Satisfactory milling but low water absorption. Released by Minnesota Agricultural 
 Experiment Station and USDA-ARS in 1982.
