II. 9. The map location of a pale green mutant on Chromosome 6.
D.E. Falk and K.J. Kasha. Crop Science Department, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada N1G 2W1. "R"
Kasha and Ho-Tsai (BGN 7:43) described a light green mutant obtained from C. R. Burnham as being linked with orange lemma and translocations involving chromosome 6. A description of this mutant (which we are calling pale green with the temporary symbol pg1 used by Burnham) has been written up for BGN 9 along with a request for a gene symbol.
This report provides additional F3 linkage data with Tl-6a (S - Sat) and 3-point data with o and msg,,bk.
The results indicate that pg is about 6 c.o. units from the centromere in the long arm of chromosome 6.
1 The characteristics are very similar to all other chlorina mutants with f symbols. Therefore, the symbol f11 was given (T. Tsuchiya, also see p. 133 for gene description).
