II. 11 Cytogenetic studies of some induced barley mutants
G. Fischbeck and H. Häuser, Lehrstuhl für Pflanzenbau und Pflanzenzüchtung der Techniscehn Universität München in Weihenstephan, W. Germany.
1) Globe shaped grain, (glo-) mutations
Earlier work resulted in determination of three different loci for glo-mutations
on chromosome 2, 4 and 7. Tests for allelism have been completed including
two additional glo-lines viz:
The glo-mutation in line 859/74 may be designated glo-b1005, while in glo9 an additional locus seems to be involved which has not been determined.
2) Necrotic leaf spotting (nec-) mutations
Earlier work resulted in determination of at least two different loci on chromosome 3 and 6. Tests for allelism have been made including additional nec-lines viz:
1558/74 recessive mutant from X-ray treatment, cultivar Villa, large dark yellowish-brown leafspots before heading.
M3, M6, M7 recessive nec-mutants received from J. Jensen, Risø/Denmark.
All mutations involved in these crosses have shown independent inheritance. Since all F1 progenies from the cross 1339/62 x 1558/74 developed necrotic leaf spots, allelism for this nec-locus on chromosome 6 is indicated.
3) Test crosses with telosomic lines
The telos were received from T. Tsuchiya, Colorado. The results indicated the position of some mutants used in earlier work on certain chromosome arms as listed below:
