VII.1 List of genetic stocks with BGS numbers.
T. Tsuchiya and T. E. Haus, Department of Agronomy, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado 80523, U.S.A.
Complete lists of genetic stocks which have BGS numbers have been developed (see Tsuchiya, 1976, BGN 6: 101-102). Some stocks are not available at the Stock Center in Fort Collins because the original stocks have never been sent by the researcher to the Stock Center or the seed has not been increased. These are the stocks without CSU location.
Since these lists are the most up-to-date, request of all genetic stocks should be made based on these lists.
Most of the genetic stocks of male sterility, desynaptic mutants, pest resistant genes and other specific genes are obtained from respective coordinators listed in BGN 4, p. 98-99 (1974).
When one requests the seed of genetic stocks, not only BGS number but also one or two more identification items, such as gene symbol, phenotype or mutant name or CSU location number (B1-1 or T1-8, etc.) should be listed to avoid possible mistakes.
The symbols used in this list are a mixture of old and new systems since the new system has not been adopted for all stocks. Revised descriptions of genetic stocks and a revised list of genetic stocks (BGS) will be published when conversion to the new system is completed.
