IV.5 Coordinator's report: Genetic Stock Center in Fort Collins, Colorado.

T. Tsuchiya, Department of Agronomy, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado 80523, U.S.A.

Most of the genetic stocks accumulated in the Stock Center in Fort Collins have been grown in the greenhouse of Agronomy Department, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado in the past six years. The characteristics for the key marker genes and others have been recorded. Inheritance, genetic nature and breeding behavior have been studied in some stocks.

Fresh seeds of all stocks will be sent to the National Seed Storage Laboratory, U.S.D.A., Fort Collins, Colorado in the near future for permanent storage. The complete list of these barley genetic stocks will be published in Barley Genetics Newsletter in the near future.

The Barley Genetic Stock Center has been financially supported by Colorado State University Experiment Station Project (Hatch 8) for many years. Beginning from 1961 the Center has also been supported by Research Grants from National Science Foundation as Follows:

The NSF Grant will be terminated in August 1977. The Stock Center will be supported by USDA from February 1977, though the details have not been worked out yet.

A complete list of genetic stocks with BGS numbers was prepared by T. Tsuchiya and T.E. Haus and computerized cards have been prepared by T.E. Haus. Two lists were made by using computer system; one in the order of BGS number and the other in alphabetical order. These are published in Section VII, List of Genetic Stocks in this volume.
