IV.4 Coordinators report: Chromosome 7.

George Fedak, Cereal Crops Section, O.R.S. Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa, Ont. K1A OC6, Canada.

Considering the location of lys (gene conditioning the high lysine character in Hiproly):

(1) Karlsson, 1972 reported that lys is independent of lax a and located 8 units distal to s.

(2) Hagberg, A. (personal communication) indicated that lys is located on the long arm of chromosome 7 between the r and s loci. However its relationship to wst 2 and cm two other markers located in this interval (Robertson, 1969) has not been established as yet.

Eight additional markers and their linkage relationships on chromosome 7 have been described by Sogaard (1974) and shown in Figure 1. It remains to be shown what the relationship of markers s, wst 2, cm, and r shown by Robertson (1969) shown to be located in the interval lax-a to va is to those shown by Sogaard (1974).
