IV.5. Coordinator's report: Chromosome 7.
George Fedak, Cereal Crops Section, Ottawa Research Station, Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa, Ontario. KLA OC6 Canada.
The linkage map of chromosome 7 as published by G. W. Robertson in Barley Genetics II is shown in Figure A.
Additions:
1. Sogaard, A. B. BGN 3:57-61 has added the loci cer-b, cev-x, cer-zg, cer-i, cer-t, cer-zp and cer-W as shown in Figure B.
2. Takahashi, et al. BGN 1:51-58 report two additional linkages on chromosome
7: v2 (second gene for 6 row character) linked to s with a recombination
frequency of 18.98 + 1.457%.
nld (narrow leaved dwarf) nld-s (repulsion) recombination frequency
of 35.20 + 2.152.
nld-r (coupling) recombination frequency of 48.00 + 2.58%.
3. Takahashi, et al. BGN 2:75 report that the recombination frequency between "dusky" and s is 21.58 + 3.290%.
4. Ramage, et al. BGN 3:47-49. In studies with T2 7a showed that ms16 and ms19 are located close to the interchange breakpoint located on the short arm of chromosome 7.
5. Hagberg, A. (personal communication) indicated that lys (gene conditioning high lysine character in Hiproly) is located on the long arm of chromosome 7 between r and s loci.
6. Helm, J. (personal communication) indicated that stb (starch binding gene) recombines with lys at a frequency of 22.45%.
Deletions:
1. Tsuchiya, T. BGN 3:99-101. Concluded from Takahashi's data that va3 should be dropped from the linkage map of chromosome 7.
