One hundred-twenty barley translocation stocks
maintained at Aberdeen, were planted in 2001 in the field for seed increase.
One hundred barley genetic male sterile stocks
received from Dr. E. A. Hockett were planted in the greenhouse and one
hundred-twenty were planted in the field in 2001 for seed increase.
These accessions will be incorporated in the GRIN
system and will be accessible on the Internet in the near future.
Allelism testing of the chlorina mutant derived
from the cultivar ‘Russell’ continued to be conducted in the greenhouse.
Various chlorina seedlings including chlorina seedling 1 (fch1), chlorina seedling 2 (fch2),
chlorina seedling 4 (fch4), chlorina
seedling 6 (fch6), chlorina seedling
7 (fch7), and chlorina seedling 8 (fch8) were crossed with the mutant.
Results of the F1 phenotype are shown in Table 1.

This data indicated that the Russell chlorina
mutant is not allelic to fch1, fch2, fch4, fch6, fch7, and fch8. Our last year’s data indicated that the mutant is not allelic
to fch3, fch5, fch9, and fch12.

There is no new information about trisomic and
aneuploid stocks. A list on these stocks are available in BGN 25:104. Seed
request for these stocks should be sent to the coordinator.

Since Gottfried Künzel retired in November 2001,
the entire material of translocations and balanced tertiary trisomics
maintained in Gatersleben was handed over to Andreas Houben who henceforth will
serve as the coordinator. Seeds of all T lines and BTT stocks are kept under
cold storage. For seed requests please ask the new coordinator.
There was no new information on translocations and BTTs
since the latest reports in BGN 31 and 23, respectively.
