II.11. Allelism among light green, lg, seedling mutants.

Among the genetic stocks at the Barley Genetic Stock Center in Fort Collins, Colorado are several light green seedling mutants that were obtained by Dr. D. W. Robertson from Dr. E. R. Sears at the University of Missouri in 1938.
Because we had found that allelism tests had not been made for many of the barley genetic stocks, these mutants were intercrossed to determine allelic relations. These stocks were maintained under the designation lg4, lg5, lg7, lg8, lg9, and lg1O. Since lg7 is extremely difficult to discern from normal green plants this mutant was not included in this study.
Table 1 includes combinations that have been tested.
Table 1. F1 phenotype of crosses between light green mutants.
In addition, certain crosses have been made between these mutants and other light green or chlorina mutants. Minnesota 80 lg stock is allelic to lg8, Minnesota 80 lg stock is not allelic to lg5, and f3 is not allelic to lg9. From these data the following relationships appear:
lg4 = lg9
lg5
lg8 = lg1O = Minn. 80 lg
