Seeds of two hundred barley genetic stocks were grown in the greenhouse in early 1998 for increase and for evaluation. In the spring, nine Bowman backcross derived lines were grown in replicated plots, at two locations, for trial studies. Twenty-four unique barley genetic stock lines were also grown in the spring for observation of the National Small Grains Germplasm Research Facility's tenth anniversary field day. Over 130 genetic stock requests for seed were received and distributed to researchers around the world. Currently over 300 various genetic stocks, including desynaptic mutants, and translocation lines are being replenished in the greenhouse for further increase and evaluation.
