Integration of the molecular maps with the morphological/physiological markers is progressing. The markers that can be reasonably accurately located to specific "BINS" are shown in Figure 1. The locations of the loci that can be placed in the map with reasonable linkage estimates are shown with a line intersecting the chromosome. Markers that can only be located to the appropriate "BIN" are not connected to the chromosome indicating that their location within the "BIN" is not defined.

The new morphological markers added during the past year are mostly from the mapping of the Oregon World Barley Dominant x Recessive doubled haploid population. For description of the population and mutants go to "http://www.css.orst.edu/Barley/wolfbar/wolfnew.htm". Two multiovary mutants, mo6b and mo7a, have been mapped by J. Soule in my laboratory (unpublished).

For description of all mutants go to "http://www.graingenes.org/cgi-bin/WebAce/webace?db=graingenes" and select "Map_Data" "Barley genes 2" or Barley Genetics Newsletter Volume 26. To identify other molecular markers in each "BIN" and for references go to "http://barleygenomics.wsu.edu/" and download the EXCEL spreadsheet "x1071698.x1s" (the numbers between x1 and.x1s will change as updates are uploaded).

For detailed integration of morphological and molecular markers on chromosome 5 (1H) see Jens Jensen in Barley Genetics Newsletter Vol. 28:71-74, 1997. Another approach to mapping mutations in barley is described in Castiglioni et al., in Genetics 149:2039, 1998.
