Since the last report Taketa et al (1995) reported the production of wheat x barley F1 hybrids in new combinations of wheat and barley parents including Hordeum spontaneum.
Taketa (personal communication) so far obtained three disomic additions of H. spontaneum C Koch var. transcaspicum Vav. (OUH 602) chromosomes 2H, 3H and 4H to Shinchunaga wheat. The addition lines were selected by C-banding of somatic chromosomes. The authenticity of these lines are currently being investigated by crossing with CS-Betzes addition lines.
