Barley genetic stocks including 256 BGS stocks were planted in the greenhouse in 1995 for seed increase and for evaluation. More than 1600 B and T stocks were also planted in the field for seed increase and evaluation. These stocks were stored in the cold room at the National Small Grains Germplasm Research Facility in Aberdeen, ID. Ten to twelve grams of each stock were sent to the National Seed Storage Laboratory in Fort Collins, CO, for long term storage. Forty-six genetic stocks received from Dr. Udda Lundqvist in Sweden and more than 550 stocks derived from 'Bowman' backcrosses received from Dr. Jerry Franckowiak, North Dakota State University, were planted in the spring of 1996 for seed increase. Another 388 barley genetic stocks, also obtained from Dr. J. Franckowiak, were planted this fall (1996) in the greenhouse for seed increase. A complete list of these stocks are available upon request.
