There is little new information to report for wheat-barley genetic stocks since the last report. M. Molnar-Lang and J. Sutka reported the production of a fertile wheat × barley amphiploid at the 8th Int. Wheat Genet. Symp. held at Beijing, China in July 1993. They used the same cultivar combinations, Chinese Spring wheat and Betzes barley, used by Islam et al. (1981) in the production of wheat-barley addition lines. However, Molnar-Lang and Sutka have not provided any concrete evidence that the 56-chromosome plants obtained have the full complement of wheat and barley chromosomes (21" of wheat and 7" of barley). T. Koba (Pers. commun.) identified two wheat-barley disomic addition lines (514 and 6H) involving Shinchunaga wheat and Nyugoruden barley among the 22" presumptive addition lines reported in the Coordinators report of Barley Genetics Newsletter Vol. 21.
