The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at Washington State University is seeking an outstanding scientist for a temporary one or two year appointment to the R. A. Nilan Distinguished Professorship in Barley Research and Education. As there is no salary specifically designated for this position, this scientist should be on a professional (sabbatical) leave from his/her present position. Some salary supplement may be available and will be negotiated at the time of selection. An annual stipend of $30,000 is provided and may be used for operations support of the person filling the Professorship.
The person filling the Professorship will join an active research program covering all phases of barley genetics and breeding research from practical to theoretical. The incumbent would be expected to provide leadership in barley genetics, biotechnology, and/or breeding that would complement ongoing barley research projects in the department. Work on this project should yield results that enhance the barley industry and/or advance the scientific knowledge of barley. Teaching of a graduate level seminar in the area of the individual's expertise is expected.
