Supplemental guidelines for contributors of Barley Genetics Newsletter
The following are additional instructions regarding the preparation of
manuscripts.
- The Genetic Stock Center in Fort Collins, Colorado has no intention
of collecting and maintaining multiple marker stocks which are
collections from various cross combinations in your experiments.
However, some workers might be interested in using those stocks.
Therefore, if you send the stock number (if any), genotype, and
other information to the Editor, it will be compiled and published
in BGN. A list of Barley Genetics Stocks was published in Volume 16
of BGN.
-
Reports on the activities from each research institution are of
particular interest to many research workers. Information on your
research program now underway and the plans for the near future
will be highly appreciated. This information to be published in
BGN may help prevent duplication of similar or the same kind of
experiments.
-
Letters to the Editors are welcome by all contributors. Please
relate your experience, express your opinions, comments, or
suggestions in the form of letters. They will be published in a
selection titled 'Letters to the Editors".
-
Please give your complete mailing address including the name of
country. The mailing list will be made based on this address.
-
All correspondence should be in ENGLISH.
-
It would be of great assistance if, in addition to your research
notes, coordinator's report or others, you would send us:
Titles of barley publications by yourself or your colleagues
which appeared in the years 1969 through 1989. Citations of
papers in relatively inaccessible journals are especially
desired.
-
Errors in the past issues (Volumes 1 through 18) are listed in past
issues. Any errors not listed in the past issues can be listed in
future issues. Editors appreciate receiving information on errors
or mistakes.
-
Correspondence regarding the Barley Genetics Newsletter should be
separated from other items to avoid confusion.
-
Please prepare your manuscript in a similar way to papers published
in previous issues of BGN.
-
Please type tables on a separate sheet. Some complicated tables
should be typed in final form, so that we can use them without
retyping. This will prevent making mistakes and help editors very
much; proofreading of complicated tables is time consuming.
European contributors are asked to type complicated tables and/or
lists in a sheet size not exceeding 18 cm x 21 cm with 3 cm margins
on both sides of the page. DO NOT type on usual European letter
paper (21 cm x 29.5 cm).
-
MANUSCRIPT SHOULD BE PROOFREAD BEFORE IT IS SUBMITTED TO THE EDITORS.
-
ERRATA: Even though the editors have spent a considerable amount
of time in correcting typographical errors, there probably are
still some mistakes and errors present. Some of the mistakes and
errors were in the original manuscripts. We ask each contributor
of an article to read his or her own paper carefully and inform us
of any errors or mistakes the author may find. Sometimes one may
be able to find errors more easily in someone else's paper than his
own. We need your assistance in identifying those errors and
mistakes. We would appreciate your cooperation on this matter for
the improvement of BGN.
