Genetic analysis of three chlorina mutants in barley

The objective of this work is to study the genetic nature of the following three chlorina mutants:

CSU B1O-6		Chlorina IV
CSU B11-2		Chlorina 1-44-60
CSU B11-7		Demings Chlorina

Maternal inheritance in barley was first observed by Robertson (1937). More than 23 cases of maternal inheritance were reported in barley (Tsuchiya, 1987).

CSU B10-6 has a bright yellow character at the early seedling stage. Later the leaves change color to green from the leaf tip toward the base. CSU B11-2 and CSU B11-7 have similar characteristics with new leaf showing yellowish green, then quickly turn green.

The phenotypes of the F1 hybrids indicated that the CSU B11-6, CSU B11-2, and CSU B11-7 are not maternally inherited (Table 1).
