Dr. R. I. Wolfe, Agriculture Canada, developed at Brandon and later at Beaverlodge, Canada several multiple marker stocks (Wolfe, 1971 and 1984). The stocks have a spring growth habit, are fairly vigorous in the field, and are resistant to net blotch, incited Pyrenophora teres Drechs. Some of Dr. Wolfe's stocks have been increased in North Dakota and seed will be available to other researchers upon request. The recessive genes present in Lhe key multiple recessive marker stock used in development of' stocks for each chromosome are listed below. This stock has a second gerie for smooth awn and a gene for strong attachment of spikelets to the rachis.

Gene Symbol Chromosome

The multiple dominant marker stock and the recessive marker stocks for each chromosome will be described in more detail in subsequent issues of the Barley Genetics Newsletter.
