Spike character recessive to normal; heteozygotes later and less vigorous than normal - especially under short-day regime (10, 11, 13, 14, 16).
Located on chromosome 7 between ert-n and lax-a (15).

Spike branching from shorthaired rachillae of the 1-0 bottom flowers.
Spike internodes about 20% longer than normal (10, 13).

1962 after resting Foma seed recurrently treated with ethylmethane-sulfonate and neutrons: 0.08-0.5% x 5-24 hours + 400rad.
