BARLEY GENETICS NEWSLETTTER, VOL. 15. VI. DESCRIPTION OF GENETIC STOCKS
Tsuchiya, p. 87

There are some applications for BGS numbers for new mutant stocks. Some however, do not have enough information to be assigned a BGS number.

Only one stock was given a BGS number this year.

There are many new mutants which were assigned new gene symbols and new mutant names. Many of them do not have description and no BGS numbers assigned.

I encourage barley workers to prepare description on all new mutant genes and submit for BGS numbers.

A couple of aspects in preparation of a description for a genetic stock are:

1. A number of mutants have been studied and reported in BGN and other journals, yet the description has not been published in BGN. It is important to publish the description in BGN.

2. Revision of a description is also equally important. The author of the original description is asked to prepare a revised version or sometimes a corrected version of the description of genetic stock(s).

Your cooperation is appreciated.

T. Tsuchiya
