II. 22. Supplementary list of Giemsa C-banded karyotypes of 2- and 6-rowed barley.
Ib Linde-Laursen, Agricultural Research Department, Risø National Laboratory, DK-4000 Roskilde, Denmark. "R"
The Giemsa C-banded karyotypes of 66 barley varieties or lines and one population have been described previously (Linde-Laursen 1978a,b; Linde-Laursen et al. 1982). Further studies on some of the varieties have disclosed the presence of additional C-banding patterns in four varieties and/or of slightly different patterns than those published in five varieties. These patterns are given in Table 1 together with the patterns of 17 varieties or lines not previously studied. The 6-rowed Canadian varieties 'Montcalm' and its mutant 'als', 'OAC 21', 'York', and 'Conquest' (cf. Linde-Laursen 1978b) share banding pattern variant 2D with the 6-rowed Asiatic lines. Since the Canadian lines are of East Asiatic parentage and since variant 2D has not been observed in other barley material, this variant may originally have been peculiar to barley of Eastern Asia.
