Thirty-five desynaptic mutants have been reported previously (BGN 1:38, BGN 2:65-67, BGN 3:91, BGN 4:123-125, BGN 5:86, BGN 6:108-109). Thirty-three of these mutants occupy 15 loci and gene descriptions of the 15 loci have been published (BGN 3:124-131, BGN 4:137-142, BGN 5:113, BGN 6:116). Allele tests of two other previously reported mutants, des,,ah and des,,ai, have not been completed. Four new desynaptic mutants of spontaneous origin in the cultivar 'Steptoe', C.I. 15229, have been added to the collection. They have been designated des,,aj, des,,ak, des,,al and des,,am. We do not know how many loci the four mutants in Steptoe occupy, but we do know that des,,aj and des,,ak are non-allelic. The mutants in Steptoe, along with des,,ah and des,,ai, are being allele tested and assigned to loci. Limited amounts of seed of all of the desynaptic mutants are available upon request.
