INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

PAPER/POSTER PRESENTATION FORMS (all in English)

Keynote addresses and oral presentations

Keynote addresses will be limited to 30 minutes and general oral presentations to 15 minutes/presentation including 2-3 minutes (up to the author) for a discussion. In a case the Scientific Program Committee would decide to extend the length of a presentation, authors will be contacted. All the customary audiovisual aids, i.e. slide (5 x 5 cm, standard frames) and overhead (21 x 21 cm) projectors, will be available. If other facilities, e.g. a computerized display for slides, would be required, please notify us in advance, so perhaps we will be able to assist you with our help.

Poster presentations

Posters will be at a high priority and they will be on the display over all symposium oral sessions, i.e. June 30 - July 4. There will be a formal poster viewing after each oral session followed by a discussion. The poster discussion sessions, similarly to the oral ones, will be arranged thematically around the main symposium themes. Each discussion session will be guided by an invited Discussion Leader, who will give a short introduction followed by a brief overview (2-3 minutes) of each poster by its author(-s). Then, an open discussion of posters should follow.

Poster format and set up

The height/width format of a poster is 120cm x 80cm. Present your poster in the following order, starting from the top: title, author(s), address, body text, figures, etc. Please, do not use too much text, which must be readable from 1 - 2 m distance. A short summary or conclusions are hihgly recommended. Poster should be self-explanatory regardless of the author presence at the poster, although, the authors are expected to be present at their posters during the viewing time. You will kindly be requested to put up your posters on numbered boards.

Manuscripts of presented papers

Papers are extended up to 16 B-5 pages (17.6 x 25.0 cm), for keynote addresses, 12 B-5 pages for general oral and poster presentations. Please, try to submit your paper text on an even number of pages.

Deadline to submit manuscripts of your papers is March 1, 2002. As it is usually indicated by organizers of various conferences, we make you aware that: if your paper text will arrive later than the indicated date, it is not warranted, it will appear in the book of proceedings. Of course, there are always several days of a delay before the manuscripts go to the printers, but, please, keep the deadline.

Page format for papers

Please type your papers with a black, carbon-type ribbon or use a laser printer or use other means to achieve a maximum contrast between the letters and the paper. Use Arial font (type, like this one) and single space your paper. The B-5 size sheet should be in a portrait layout, with 2.5 cm margins at all sides, without a page no. Papers should be typed only on one side of the paper sheet in the following order: Author(s) name(s) in the top line(-s), lower case, bold letters, please underline speaker's name; Author(s) address aligned to the left, lower case letters; Title lower case, bold letters; Subtitles all letters of upper case, aligned to the left; The body of the text horizontal alignment justified, the first line of a paragraph should be indented for 0.51 cm (3 letters). You may use both the common name and the latin name (underline or write in italic) of the crop and its pathogens in the title and in the body text. Please follow the sample format.

Page format for papers prepared with IBM compatible computer

The book of proceedings will be assembled on an IBM computer with Microsft Word for Windows text editor, version 97. Following parameters for the page formatting are to be used: Portait layout and Arial font, font size for all types of letters (tags) = 10.0 points and all inter-spacings = 0.423 cm. The 1st line indent in the body text = 0.51 cm. The paper text will be in one column of 13.0 cm wide, the column length = 20.0 cm. Alignments and margins are as ones described above. We appreciate, if you can also send us a floppy disc with your abstract text already made in Word for Windows v.97, or made as an ASCII file, or just as a hard paper copy. Then, it will be simple for us to correct/make anew the page design. We can handle 3.5''(1.4 mb) and 5.25''(1.2mb) flopppies formatted on IBM compatible machines. Please label your floppy legibly, so we will be able to return it to you with your registration materials.
