Abstract
Analysis of F1 to F3 and backcross progeny from a cross between accession G3489 (resistant) and G1279 (susceptible) showed that resistance to Meloidogyne javanica is conditioned by a single dominant gene, Rkn. Similar results were obtained for resistance to M. incognita but it was not known whether the same gene was responsible. A. squarrosa is thus a valuable source of nematode resistance for incorporation into bread wheat.
