Abstract
Resistance to wheat yellow mosaic disease was evaluated under field conditions in 37 wheat cultivars from China (Jiangsu, Henan, Sichuan and Hubei Provinces), Japan and the United States. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and ELISA detections revealed that Yangfu 9311 was immune to wheat yellow mosaic virus. This cultivar was crossed and backcrossed with those that were susceptible to the disease. After screening for resistance among the segregating populations of F SUB 2 and BC SUB 1 , the analysis of inheritance indicated that the resistance in Yangfu 9311 was controlled by a pair of dominant monogenes. These results provided a theoretical basis for the identification of molecular markers associated with the resistance gene. The resistant phenotype of Ningmai 9 and factors correlated with resistance to wheat yellow mosaic disease are discussed
