Abstract
Three glutenin-coding loci designated GluD, GluE and GluF which control the synthesis of barley glutenin subunits with molecular weights of 32, 33.5 and 34.5 kDa, respectively, have been identified. This was performed by analysis of electrophoretic patterns of F2 families obtained from the cross of Psakhon with Yuzhny. The GluE and GluF loci were located on barley chromosome 5 and shown to be linked to Hor3 and HrdB loci. The values of recombination of gluE with Hor3 and HrdB were 31.8 .+-. 4.4% and 30.4 .+-. 4.4%, respectively. The GluF locus proved to be situated between HrdB and GluE at distance of 15.7 .+-. 3.2% and 25.1 .+-. 8.5% apart from them. Loci GluD and Ml-p (mildew resistanec) are inherited indepenently of the genetic markers of chromosome 5, which indicates that this chromosome segment lacks the above-mentioned loci. The data obtained are discussed in view of homology between barley chromosome 5 and the chromosomes of the 1st homeologous group of wheat.
