Abstract
Three glutelin-coding loci named Glu A, Glu B and Glu C controlling the synthesis of glutelin components with molecular weights of 30, 55 and 59-60 kDa. respectively, have been identified. This was done by the electrophoretic analysis of F2 families obtained from crossing T1-5a (Gull) and MK 6827. Glu A and Glu B were found to be located on the long arm of the chromosome 5, distally to Hor 3 (4.3 .+-. 1.6% and 2.5 .+-. 1.7% recombination, respectively). The breakage point of translocation T1-5a on the chromosome 5 has been shown to be situated proximally to Hor 3 and Glu A (8.6 .+-. 3.4% and 9.3 .+-. 3.6%, respectively). Some genetic and biochemical evidence of the participation of hordein polypeptides with molecular weights of 33, 35 and 90-92 kDa in the formation of the glutelin complex has been obtained.
