Abstract
The effect of high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GS) 5 + 10 on high quality spring wheat was investigated using 4 near-isogenic lines (Kefeng 6, Longfumai 10, Longmai 20 and Xiaobingmai 33) developed by 6 consecutive backrosses and differing only at the Glu-D1 locus. Results showed that gluten indices were all increased by 3.1-27.7% after the 5 + 10 subunit was introduced in the 4 cultivars. The stability time was increased by 128, 104, 233 and 36%, and resistance was increased by 130, 56.04, 95.10 and 16.33 in Kefeng 6, Longmai 20, Longfumai 10 and Xiaobingmai 33 biotypes 5 + 10 compared to the 2 + 12 biotypes, respectively
