Abstract
The performance of 14 durum wheat cultivars under biological and conventional cultivation was evaluated in a field experiment conducted in Tunisia. Significant differences in the ear length of wheat under conventional and biological cultivation were recorded, particularly in cv. Hamira which recorded 7.87 and 6.81 cm ear length under conventional and biological cultivation, respectively. The number of ears ranged from 241.75 under conventional cultivation to 143/m SUP 2 ears under biological cultivation. The 100-grain weight varied from 20.3 in cv. Khiar under conventional cultivation to 29.32 for cv. Biskri under biological cultivation. Crop yield ranged from 36.147 q/ha in cv. Jnah Khortifa to 64.24 q/ha in cv. Ben Bechir under conventional cultivation, and from 32.24 q/ha in cv. Om Rabii to 58.14 q/ha in cv. Nasr under biological cultivation. Ben Bechir recorded higher grain yield under conventional than biological cultivation. The cultivars Nasr, Khiar and Sboo Ilgia gave high crop yields under biological cultivation
