Abstract
Thirty diverse wheat cultivars were evaluated for genetic variation during the rabi season of 1998-99 in Madhya Pradesh, India. Analysis of variance in 3 environments indicated a considerable amount of variation among the genotypes. The highest genotypic coefficient of variation was observed for number of tillers per plant, number of effective tillers and kernel yield. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was observed for number of tillers per plant, 1000-kernel weight, plant height and number of spikelets per plant
