Synonyms were added to RFLP markers that were in GrainGenes in the previous 'X' format. 'X' indicates unknown function for early molecular markers, but was dropped as noted in the Introduction of the Catalog of Gene Symbols for Wheat. By adding synonyms to the markers, the functionality of cMap is improved.
