Comment
Also called 'progressive lethal necrosis' (123) and 'firing' (691).
Hybrid necrosis is controlled by complementary dominant genes, Ne1 and Ne2. Descriptive alleles w (weak), m (medium) and s (strong) were allocated by Hermsen (376). The phenotype is affected by modifying genes (and/or genetic background) and environment (381). According to Dhaliwal et al. (187), progressive necrosis is suppressed at 28 degrees Celcius.
Genotype lists appear in 375, 376, 378, 458, 500, 502, 773, 805, 894, 989, 1070, 1071, 1072, 1087, 1091, 1092, 1094, 1095, 1096, 1098, 1099, 1100, 1101, 1102, 1103, 1195, 1196, 1197, 1198, 1200, 1202, 1203, 1204.
Rye line 1R136-2 carries Ner1 (854) that complements Ne2 (914, 854) and Ner2 (854) to produce necrosis. Rye lines L155 and L256 carry Ner2 (854) that complements Ne1 (450, 854) and Ner1 (854).
