Inheritance of hairy node versus non-hairy node has been attributed to a single, dominant gene difference (270, 608, 651, 654) and the Hnhn locus was shown to be linked with B1. Observations on 5A trisomics and telosomics of Chinese Spring confirm this location. Love & Craig (608) studied a cross involving Velvet Node CItr5877, and Gaines & Carstens (270) studied an offtype single plant designated Velvet Node Wash. No. 1981.
Multiple alleles were reported in T. monococcum (530).
