A chromosome 2B gene of minor effect was identified (Klindworth et al, 1990)
In a monosomic analysis of the hexaploid line LYB with supernumerary spikelets, Peng et al. (1998) located recessive genes in chromosomes 2A and 4A that promote the development of supernumerary spikelets and a gene in chromosome 2D that prevents their expression.
