Abstract
Four male sterile wheats with Aegilops kotschyi, Ae. variabilis, Ae. ventricosa and Ae. bicornis cytoplasm were crossed with wheat materials, and from the crosses a series of maintenance lines were selected by investigating F1 fertility. The A-PAGE analysis indicated that most maintenance lines possessed the gliadin marker Gld1B3 on the 1BL/1RS translocation chromosome. Three male sterile wheats with Aegilops kotschyi, Ae. variabilis, Ae. ventricosa cytoplasm had the same fertility, but the male sterile wheat with Ae. bicornis cytoplasm could produce male sterility with some other wheat materials with the non-1BL/1RS translocation chromosome. The peroxidase isozyme zymograms of these four CMS lines and their F1s with V9125 indicated that the four CMS lines had the same isozyme zymograms. The F1s of three CMS lines with Aegilops kotschyi, Ae. variabilis, Ae. ventricosa cytoplasm had the same isozyme zymograms, but the F1s with Ae. bicornis cytoplasm had several different banding patterns
