Abstract
Triticum aestivum and T. durum were evaluated for high-molecular-weight gluten banding pattern by gel electrophoresis. Significant variability in the banding pattern was observed. Qualitative and quantitative variation was also observed among the genotypes classified under group I (14 cultivars of T. aestivum ) and group II (14 cultivars of T. durum ). Each genotype exhibited unique specific bands. PBND-4286 and PBNS-1666-1 had the highest number of bands (18), whereas PBND-3541 had the lowest number of bands (11) in group I. In group II, the number of bands was highest (22) in PBND-3041 and lowest (12) in PBND-1625. The seed glutenin pattern proved useful in the identification of the genotypes
