Abstract
The presence of a translocation from A. ventricosa carrying the genes for rust resistance Yr17, Lr37 and Sr38 was analysed in recently registered, mostly western European wheat cultivars (Boka, Ilias, Versailles, Apache, Renan, Bill, Clever, Rheia, Svitava, Clarus, Rapsodia and Corsaire) and line NIL Lr37 in the Czech Republic. By means of a PCR marker the presence of the translocation was determined in cultivars Bill, Clarus, Clever, Corsaire, Rapsodia, and in the Czech cultivar Rheia. This is the first time this has been shown for Rapsodia, Clarus and Rheia. Infection tests indicated the presence of additional leaf rust resistance genes in all cultivars with the translocation, except Rheia. Segregating progenies of six crosses between Renan possessing Lr37 and different cultivars susceptible to leaf rust (Puccinia triticina (P. recondita)) were tested for the presence of the translocation with Yr17, Lr37 and Sr38 by both an infection test and a PCR. High coincidence between the results from the infection tests and the PCR was seen
