Abstract
The paper presents an experimental programme for creating xenic and double hybrids of rye which was realized in the years 1985-2000. The occurrence of double xenia in rye, qualitative (kernel colour) and quantitative (thousand kernels weight), has been affirmed. Variability of the degree of intercrossing of initial materials has been characterized depending on a degree of narrowing of the genetic variation basis. The selection of yellow kernel forms showing high combining ability and large effect of thousand kernel weight xenia proved to be useful in hybrid breeding. The formula is given for creation of double hybrids and some agricultural properties of the obtained F1 forms are described
